About Us
Hi, I’m Daniel Carter, the founder of VHR Checks.
VHR Checks was created with a simple goal: to make vehicle information more accessible, transparent, and easy to understand for everyday users.
Buying a used vehicle can be risky. Many buyers don’t have the tools or knowledge to verify a vehicle’s history, decode VIN numbers, or understand market value. That’s where we come in.
What We Do
At VHR Checks, we provide simple and reliable tools to help users make informed decisions:
- VIN Decoder Tool – Uses official NHTSA data to decode vehicle information
- Vehicle Market Value Tool – Provides estimated pricing using trusted market data sources
- Vehicle History Reports – We partner with trusted providers to offer detailed reports
What is a VIN?
A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique 17-character code assigned to every vehicle during manufacturing. It acts like a fingerprint for the car, allowing authorities, insurance companies, and buyers to identify a specific vehicle and access important information about it.
Each VIN contains a mix of letters and numbers that reveal details about the vehicle such as:
- Manufacturer
- Country of production
- Vehicle model and body type
- Engine type
- Model year
- Assembly plant
- Production sequence number
VIN numbers became standardized to 17 characters in 1981, which means all modern cars follow the same structure.

Where to Find VIN on a Car
You can find the VIN in several locations on a vehicle. Manufacturers place it in multiple spots so it can be easily verified.
